We opened our first asphalt plant more than 40 years ago. Since then, we’ve added six more plants to our roster, giving Superior Bowen an annual production capacity of over 3 million tons.
Our facilities work in tandem with our materials testing team to produce DOT-certified, commercial, FAA-compliant, and custom mix designs.
Every mix is produced to the highest standard, every time. With an in-house lab and expert technical team, we never compromise on quality.
Our seven plants throughout the Kansas City Metro have got you covered, no matter where your site is or how much asphalt you need.
Scheduling powered by leading logistics software. Proactive communication. Always-reliable operations. We keep your job on track.
We’re a premier partner for projects of any scale, from local street improvements to major transportation infrastructure.
Superior Bowen designs and delivers cost-effective, high-quality hot-mix asphalt ideal for any pavement application. We’re proud to provide environmental product declarations (EPDs) for any mix we produce.
Whether you’re looking to pave in cooler weather, haul asphalt further from KC, or improve asphalt compaction, warm-mix asphalt makes it all possible. We’ll reduce binder viscosity and incorporate the right additives to ensure performance.
Looking for an innovative solution that delivers ultimate performance and lasting reliability? Superior Bowen’s development team has introduced Kevlar® fibers into various mix designs. These high-strength, fully synthetic asphalt additives extend pavement life and reduce maintenance costs.
Our proprietary asphalt rejuvenators restore aged asphalt binders, reducing oxidative damage and extending the lifespan of asphalt surfaces.
We produce Saturock™, a year-round, cold-mix patching solution for road repair (think potholes, parking lots, utility cuts, and bridge joins). Municipalities, school districts, DOTs, homeowners, and railroads can stockpile Saturock™ (it’s shelf stable) and use it as needed, 365 days a year, rain or shine. Get in touch for more information.
In addition to volumetric analysis, our team at Construction Materials Testing Group tests mixes for performance, ensuring that your asphalt will withstand rutting, cracking, and other challenges.
Superior Bowen incorporates ground tire rubber (GTR), also known as crumb rubber modifier (CRM), in mix designs when requested. This sustainable ingredient increases pavement durability, improves skid resistance in wet conditions, and reduces road noise.
GTR can be blended into the binder using a wet process (where rubber particles mix directly with liquid asphalt to create a modified binder) or introduced through a dry process (where rubber is added to aggregate before binder incorporation). Each method offers unique performance benefits depending on project requirements.
Superior Bowen isn’t just an asphalt production company — we’re a paving contractor. We know what separates quality pavement from a subpar product. We know the true cost of scheduling problems. We know the value of a strong logistics network.
Every lesson from the field has informed our approach to asphalt production. From clear communication and rigorous quality control to problem-solving support and tailored solutions, you can trust us to perform.
Superior Bowen is proud to partner with top paving companies throughout Kansas City. Our loyal customers have great things to say about our product (and our customer service)!
