OUR SCOPE
Superior Bowen provided sitework for the 9.5-acre UHS DeNovo Three Trails Behavioral Health development in Independence, Missouri. We completed earthwork and grading, unsuitable soil mitigation, underground utilities, synthetic turf and landscape services as part of the public and private improvements across the site.
The work prepared the property for construction of the 88,000-square-foot behavioral health facility. Crews removed more than 3,000 cubic yards of unsuitable material and replaced it with 4,500 cubic yards of solid foundation material to establish a stable building pad.
The completed 120-bed Three Trails Behavioral Hospital was developed to serve children and adolescents, adults, and seniors with inpatient behavioral healthcare. Its name recognized Independence’s historical role as the starting point for the Santa Fe, Oregon, and California Trails.
unique challenges
The property had previously been used as a dump site, leaving crews with poor and unsuitable soil conditions across portions of the development. Team SB removed and replaced unsuitable material and provided additional stabilization to create the foundation conditions required for the building pad.
