OUR SCOPE
For years, Tomahawk Creek’s flooding had impacted the parkway and the surrounding area.
The City of Leawood asked us to rework drainage with the goal of improving the creek’s holding capacity and stabilizing the bank to prevent erosion.
In addition to our creek enhancement work, Superior Bowen rebuilt the main road and a beloved community walking trail. To get the parkway out of the 100-year floodplain, we tore out and elevated the existing pavement. Our scope included the addition of a roundabout at the parkway’s intersection with Town Center Drive. By the time the project concluded, our team had improved water flow and traffic flow for the citizens of Leawood.
UNIQUE CHALLENGES
Leawood pedestrians were very eager to get their trail back!
The Superior Bowen team had to safely direct walkers, runners, bicyclists, and electric scooter riders through the jobsite.
