We delivered the Kansas City Current’s new stadium on a very tight schedule. Superior Bowen’s SiteWorks team ran point on this high-profile project. First, our team put erosion control measures in place throughout the site. We then prepared temporary access and crane roads designed to withstand heavy traffic for the duration of the project.
Our crews cleared the site and demolished existing structures, then hauled off undocumented fills and imported suitable materials to replace them. We created a stable foundation for the stadium by handling building pad LVC, moisture conditioning and recompaction of subgrade under the footings and building pad, and the installation of base rock beneath hard surfaces.
This project received a Judges’ Special Recognition in the 2024 Kansas City Business Journal’s Capstone Awards.
UNIQUE CHALLENGES
The CPKC stadium is the focal point of the Berkley Riverfront Park development. The location’s proximity to water meant more than beautiful views — our crews dealt with unpredictable (and often unfavorable) soil conditions throughout the jobsite. We also delivered the Kansas City Current’s new stadium on a very tight schedule. Superior Bowen’s SiteWorks team needed to provide a stable foundation for structures and footings capable of supporting the stadium and ancillary structures. This required extensive improvements. The urban site was densely packed with other trades, which meant that work and deliveries required careful sequencing.
