OUR SCOPE
Superior Bowen performed stormwater infrastructure improvements at the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant campus. The work focused on Outfalls 27 and 28 near the Stamping Plant and includes dredging and reshaping stormwater ponds, improvements to regenerative stormwater pool systems, and cleaning and regrading of swales to better capture, slow, and treat runoff. These improvements enhance groundwater recharge and water quality before stormwater is released into Shoal Creek and ultimately the Missouri River.
unique challenges
The project required strict adherence to Ford’s safety standards and a wide range of environmental regulations governing dredging and stormwater improvements. Work was carefully planned and executed to manage nearly 11 feet of dredging depth while maintaining compliance and protecting downstream waterways. Ongoing monitoring and coordination with multiple partners were essential to ensure long-term system performance as the site is restored and revegetated.
Stats
- Over 12,000 CY of dredged material reused onsite
- Approximately 260,000 SF (6 acres) cleared and revegetated
- Over 25,000 native deep-cell plugs installed
- More than 150,000 SY of seeded area
