Superior Bowen served as the design-builder for the Central Bank Sporting Complex, delivering a 76-acre, tournament-quality, multi-sport athletic destination in Kansas City’s Northland. The project included full site development, earthwork, utilities, roadway and parking infrastructure, and coordination of athletic field construction supporting 10 synthetic turf fields with lighting, inclusive playgrounds, a field house, concessions, restrooms, and pedestrian amenities. The completed complex now anchors the larger Twin Creeks Village development and provides year-round recreational opportunities for the region.
Unique challenges
The project was delivered during unprecedented market conditions, including the COVID-19 pandemic, material shortages, etc. Through a collaborative design-build process, the team adapted the design to meet budget constraints while preserving key programming goals. Early planning, risk-sharing, and continuous coordination allowed the project to be completed under budget, ahead of schedule, and with zero lost-time accidents.
