If You’re Involved in an Auto Accident

  1. Check for injuries. Ensure everyone is safe.
  2. Call 911 immediately.
  3. Notify Superior Bowen. Contact the Insurance Claim Manager and/or Director of Safety.
  4. Secure the scene. Place warning signs as soon as possible.
  5. Protect yourself legally.
    • Do not discuss the accident with anyone except police
    • Do not admit fault
    • Do not argue about responsibility
  6. Document the scene. Take photos/videos of:
    • Vehicle damage
    • Intersection or location
    • Traffic signs/signals
    • Skid marks and debris
  7. Collect information.
    • Get contact details from witnesses and involved parties (if they may leave before police arrive)
  8. Work with authorities.
    • Provide clear, factual information only
    • Record officer names, badge numbers, and report number
  9. Complete required testing.
    • Submit to mandatory drug and alcohol screening
